The Jaguars that Never Wereby Wayne EstradaOne of the great life lessons that one learns over years of maturity and experience is that things (usually) work out the way they are supposed to. Looking back over my life, I am happy that the "one's that got away" got away, and as a result, I have a lovely bride I'd never what have had if I had been impatient and pulled the trigger years before. Car design is much the same, and while Jaguar cars is universally recognized as one of the great design studios in the automotive world, certain cars never made it into production for a variety of technical, marketing, or asthethetic reasons. One thing us Jaguar affecianados can be proud of is that Jaguar have never made an ugly car. While many manufacturers have some great looking models currently and in the past, every other company has its own ugly ducklings that are best forgotten. Ford had the Edsel, Audi the 100, just about any 50's Mercedes sedan (as well as the current "100" series), BMW 2002 (sorry 2-fans), all the original Lexus and Acuras, the Pontiac Aztec, the Cadillac Cimmaron, and almost all AMC cars from the early 70's (can anyone just say "Gremlin"?) Some of the Jaguars that never were actually were quite beautiful and even brilliant. A personal favorite is the Daimler Corsica, a two door convertible based on the X300 sedan of 1995-1997, and a two door convertible based on the discontinued S-Type among others. Enjoy the following gallery of Jags that never quite made it! In some case, it is a shame some of these never made it into production, but those that did not will appear pretty obvious....and we can be thankful that these are the ones that thankfully "got away."
